Generally, everyone refers to an allrounder as “a Jack of all trades but a Master of none.” But the definition changes with the Usha FP 3811 food processor because it is a master of various food processing jobs, like atta kneading, slicing, and shredding.
A food processor is considered a multipurpose kitchen appliance that can take care of almost all food preparation activities except cooking. Multiple food processor models are available in India, including Preethi Zodiac MG218, Philips 7707/00, Inalsa INOX, and Morphy Richards Icon Superb. But the Usha FP 3811 is a complete machine because it caters to multiple responsibilities admirably.
Besides the regular mixing and grinding activities, the Philips FP 3811 is adept at slicing, grating, shredding, and mincing vegetables. It delivers one of the best atta kneading performances among its peers.
Besides, the machine features a citrus juicer attachment. The Usha FP 3811 is also available with an optional centrifugal juicing jar. Though it might not be the best juicer, the Usha FP 3811 ranks at the top among contemporary food processors.

Motor and Housing
The Usha FP 3811 has a 1000W motor with 100% copper winding to ensure a commendable food processing performance. Moreover, this motor is housed in a sturdy food-grade stainless steel alloy body. Hence, it has adequate protection. In comparison, the Preethi Zodiac MG218 has a 750W motor. Contemporary models like Bajaj FX-1000, Inalsa INOX, and Morphy Richards Icon Superb have 1000W engines.
This food process offers two options for controlling its operational speed. Almost all food processors have two-speed options. While it would be sufficient for food processing activities, consumers are generally comfortable using mixer grinders with three-speed options. Besides, the Usha FP 3811 has a pulse option.
A 1000W motor is expected to make sufficient noise. But 85-decibel noise level should not be an issue if the appliance performs well. In this case, the Usha FP 3811 is an excellent device.
Usha FP 3811 Performance
The Usha FP 3811 is a multi-utility appliance. So we shall review its performance individually.
Food Processor performance
The food processor arrangement separates this Usha FP 3811 from the regular mixer grinders. This attachment delivers an excellent performance in some aspects, like grating, shredding, slicing, and chopping vegetables.
However, the atta kneading facility needs some improvements. The whisker attachment is decent as it allows you to whisk cream from buttermilk comfortably.
The polycarbonate jar quality can improve, but Usha certifies the jar as unbreakable. The jar has a feeder tube attachment with a wide mouth to let us insert the vegetable pieces conveniently.
The pusher allows us to push the vegetable pieces into the machine for efficient shredding, slicing, grating, and chopping according to your requirements.
Though the slicing options are excellent, it can be tricky to slice potato chips because they require a finer cut than other vegetable slices.
The food processor also features a citrus fruit juicer attachment that extracts juice from oranges, sweet lime, and other citrus fruits.
The best feature of this attachment is that you need not crush these fruits in the optional centrifugal juicer and risk crushing the seeds with the pulp to alter the juice’s taste.
The exciting feature of the food processor is that the appliance offers a separate drawer arrangement for safeguarding the various blades like chopper, kneader, grater, slicer, shredder, and whisker. However, we recommend washing and drying the blades before storing them in the drawer. It extends the blade’s lifespan.
Wet and dry grinding performance
The wet grinding jar has an excellent capacity of 1.8L. The sharp stainless steel blades enable quick grinding of idli and dosa batter. However, the speedy grinding results in the formation of air bubbles that can affect the overall quality of the batter.
The lack of a flow breaker arrangement means you must stop the operations and mix the dough well every few minutes.
Though the wet grinding performance does not equal that of a specialist wet grinder, the results are satisfactory. This machine can wet grind sufficient idli dosa batter for a small to a medium-sized Indian family. The advantage is that the wet grinding activity is faster than traditional grinders.
This blending jar is also handy for blending milkshakes and preparing lassis. However, the performance of the blending jar is average because the machine can work at two speeds, whereas conventional mixer grinders offer three-speed options.
The dry grinder performance is okay because the blades are robust enough to handle challenging ingredients like pepper, red chili, turmeric, dry ginger, coriander seeds, and other masala items. You can also use the dry grinder to crush dry fruits like cashews, pistachios, almonds, and others to a fine powder. We have also tried crushing coffee seeds in this dry grinder and found the performance satisfactory.
The chutney grinding jar is surprisingly spacious, with a capacity of 0.5L, whereas many mixer grinders offer 0.3 to 0.4L capacities. However, the chutney grinding performance could have been better.
The two-speed option is the primary reason for the below-par chutney grinding performance. However, we managed to grind coconut, gram dal, and groundnut chutney smoothly. But we experienced some coconut chunks that needed to ground better.
The Usha FP 3811 offers a separate centrifugal juicer jar. However, the machine is also available without this attachment. So it forms an optional attachment. The centrifugal juicer attachment features an anti-drip spout allowing the juice to flow comfortably. In addition, the wide-mouthed feeding tube is an excellent accessory.
The juicer’s performance is okay, as it is efficient with soft fruits. However, the Bajaj food processor offers better juicing facilities, primarily because it has a stainless steel jar, whereas the Usha model offers a polycarbonate jar.
We do not advise extracting juice from citrus fruits using this jar because the seeds can get crushed with the pulp and affect the juice’s taste. Instead, you can use the citrus juicer attachment provided with the food processor.
Cleaning the attachment is comfortable because the components are easily detachable. However, the blades can be sharp. So, you must be careful when handling them. We suggest operating the machine with soap and water for a few minutes to wash the food residue from the blades and the jar interiors. It becomes convenient to clean the containers subsequently.
We suggest avoiding abrasive soaps or cleaning tools as they can cause scratches on the surface and damage them. Instead, sponge scrubbers are the best because they are soft and efficient.
Safety and Durability
The Usha FP 3811 is amongst the country’s safest and most durable food processors. It has multiple safety features that make it enjoyable to use this machine in the kitchen. The shock-proof body enables safe handling even with wet hands.
The juicer jars have special safety locks to ensure the lids do not fly off and cause spillage and injuries. The machine also features an overload protection switch that switches the machine off if you overload the ingredients.
Warranty and After-sales service
Usha offers a 2-year warranty on the product and a 5-year warranty on the motor. Besides, users can avail of extended warranties subsequently by paying the subscription amounts.
Usha offers decent after-sales services because it has representative offices across the country. However, food processors are specialized equipment. Hence, we recommend contacting Usha’s authorized service centers for repairs instead of relying on local mechanics. In addition, Usha offers a dedicated consumer service phone number (1800 1033 111) for users to lodge complaints and service requests.
Replacement jars are available at the Usha website and on Amazon. We suggest using original Usha jars with the appliance.
Other Usha FP models
Usha offers another FP model, 3810, that does not have the centrifugal juicer arrangement. Therefore, the FP 3810 is priced lower than the FP 3811.
We have reviewed the Usha FP 3811 and found it an efficient kitchen appliance. It is priced reasonably and qualifies as one of the best food processors available in India.
